On the 24st of May 2024, the ESNA Conference Living apart together? The troubled and treasured relationship between nature and human beings in art 1800-1900 will take place, organized by the European Society for Nineteenth-Century Art (ESNA) in collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo. 

The conference boasts a full day of papers centralising the interconnectedness between nature and human beings, by analysing the depiction of their relationship in Western-European art, including the effects of coloniasm during the nineteenth century. For further reading, please click here.
